During 2010 – 2012 the project financed implementation of the field trials of fodder and forage plants which were conducted by two National research institutions - Plant Science and Agricultural Research Institute (PSARI) and Research Institute of Animal Husbandry (RIAH). The main purpose of the field trial was to select, plant, cultivate and harvest high yield forage plants with high protein and energy content; develop fodder production technology suitable for Mongolian conditions; and to train farmers in forage production for their livestock.
The results of these trials have been presented during annual field days when all interested people including herders, agronomists, representatives of research institutions, students, etc could enter the trial sites and participate in numerous presentations offered by the project.
